It’s not about sweets. Caramel brings chilling out to a new level.
You know that sensation when you pop a sweet into your mouth and then that golden, smooth and silky caramel comes gushing out? A very pleasant experience, isn’t it? Well, that’s exactly how Caramel feels like!
There’s no uppity air about it, no super-decadent over indulgence involved here. Its simple sophistication outclasses most of the lounge and restaurants in Dubai by a mile.
We went on a Tuesday night and it was packed! Surprising really, because it’s been less than a month since it opened. We found out it was Ladies Night every Tuesday and their Caramel Cosmos were at 50% off. Great deal and that’s why the ladies came flocking. But there were more than enough gents as well.
Inside, we were greeted warmly and escorted to our table near the outer deck. The place already had a vibe going at 8pm. The interiors were very stylish. There’s warm wood everywhere from floor to deck seating, elegant chairs and a nice long bar where you can have your drinks with your friends or do lots of people watching if you’re by yourself. The lighting lends a golden touch to the whole place at night and creates a very warm and inviting ambience.
For starters, we had the wonderful Chicken Lollypops – a bit spicy but undeniably delicious with a nice hint of sweetness to it and the Lobster and Grilled Mango Tacos, which were a crisp and luscious symphony of mangoes, lobster flakes and a dash of coriander. Our mains were Petit Kobe Sliders and Seared Chilean Sea Bass accompanied by Chinese Chicken Salad. The petite Kobe burgers were one of the best burgers I’ve ever had – beef was done just right, aged cheddar was a great choice and were the perfect size for me! The shrimp risotto added a citrus-y tang to the flavoursome Sea Bass, which flaked tenderly and tasted divinely fresh. While the Chinese Chicken Salad was the perfect complement to both dishes and kept in check our insatiable appetite for the Kobe Sliders!
Giving in to the tempting desserts, we opted for the Dark Chocolate Fondant, which was sinfully gooey in the centre and went well with the cappuccino ice cream. The Apple Cobbler was a delicious apple affair spiced with cinnamon. Their sweet fixes were undeniably simple but utterly delicious and we loved it!
We had a lovely time at Caramel. The food was good, the vibe was great, the service was top-notch and the place was just wicked! It’s a fantastic place to chill after work or the weekends to dine and drink. Go on, go get Caramelised!
